John Oxley 80th birthday
|
The John Oxley was launched into the White Cart River near Paisley, Scotland, on 21st July 1927. The Cart River is a tributary to the Clyde. The whole area around the Clyde was renown for shipbuilding and steel making. Our ship is a good example of the skills and engineering that went into the traditional building of steel ships. The birthday is even more remarkable as she is one of only a few surviving examples from that period.
Come and can see the great progress we have made in the restoration of the hull and engineering. They are a tribute to our volunteer workforce that had to learn and re-discover the techniques used in shipbuilding and ship engineering systems.
Join us to celebrate the 80 year birthday on Saturday, 21st July 2007,of the John Oxley at our SYDNEY HERITAGE FLEET SHIPYARD in Rozelle at James Craig Road (off The Crescent) Rozelle at 1530.
None of the restoration could have been achieved without the support of our many financial and material sponsors. Your continuing support will help to realise a landmark ship (pun intended).
A congratulatory letter has been received from the Provost of Renfrewshire in which Paisley is the largest town
