A special thankyou to all who attended our Cement Day Working Bee on Saturday. We had a great turn out with 12 volunteers allowing us to make a record breaking cement pour (for us anyway) of 1.3 tonnes in only 2 hours!
Here are a couple of photos courtesy of volunteer Mitch Mitchell showing the area we were working in and also the chain gang moving 60 bags of cement down the gangway !!
We are very happy to say that the cement box work in Kanangra's hull is now complete. This work undertaken by many dedicated AHF volunteers over the 5 Working Bees held during the past 18 months has helped secure Kanangra's future. We must now look towards arresting any further deterioration in the superstructure and continue the excellent work being carried out by Col Tooher's team on the upper deck so that once again Kanangra can be used to assist in the promotion of AHF, which in turn will see momentum on Kanangra's own restoration increase.
"Success breeds success". Kanangra has the potential to be very successful for AHF with the many diverse ways in which she can be used, and if last Saturday is anything to go by then the future does look bright.
AHF members and friends, please remember that you are all welcome and encouraged to join the Kanangra Team. Whether it be one day per year or 365 days per year, your contribution is extremely valuable. Even if you are unable to physically help out, you can still attend our meetings held every few months. We will endeavour to get info out on Active Crew prior to meetings taking place.
Once again, thanks to all those who assisted on Saturday and we look forward to seeing you all on Kanangra in the future.
Regards
Brett Smith
