Artefacts and Maritime Effects

The Fleet's collection of artefacts and maritime effects generally relates to Australian subjects with particular emphasis on New South Wales and Sydney. The collection includes:

  • Navigational instruments, medals, souvenirs and other artefacts.

  • Books covering a wide range of maritime subjects, both fiction and non-fiction, which may be borrowed by members. The collection also includes some rare books, reference books and several Lloyds and other shipping registers.

  • Charts and maps.

  • Documents and manuscripts including indentures, diaries, letters and certificates of competency.

  • Shipping timetables, menus and other ephemera from many well known shipping companies.

  • Magazines and periodicals.
