NEWS REEELS 2006

1 January 2006

The James Craig Reeelers have entered the Top Ten charts AGAIN! Last week, listeners around the world on W-FM Radio voted our song ‘Reeelers on the Quay’ into No.5. This is apparently quite an achievement, especially since most of W-FM listeners prefer Country Music, rather than Folk! Our hyped-up capstan shanty, ‘Maggie May’ made it to No.2 on the charts in August last year.

The Reeelers are ready for sea, after an eventful time in Melbourne. We arrived here on 21 January, to be whisked straight off to ABC studios for a live interview on ‘The Idlers’ with Billy Baxter and Ian ‘Covey’. This was broadcast all around Australia, with a couple of our songs, which we sang live in the studio.

The band kicked up their heels in the Pirates Tavern in Williamstown on Sunday 5 Feb, accompanied by the famous Danny Spooner. Later that evening, another gig aboard ship, alongside Williamstown, this time accompanied by David Isom, founding member of The Bushwackers. James Craig and The Reeelers are due back in Sydney on 14 February.

The next gig will be a private Pirate Party for Schneider Electric aboard James Craig, including a harbour cruise on Thursday 30 March. Keep well clear!!! Peter & Dorothy Taylor, who were dancing at the gig last week, called today to order a copy of our 2nd album. “We’ve just about worn out the first one!”
