NEWS REEEL
The Reeelers have returned from Hobart, after touring there with the ship. Interviews on ABC Hobart Radio, including one appearance with the legendary Don Burrows, and several live performances, made it a busy and exciting time.
The album launch at Irish Murphy’s Tavern in Salamanca Place was a hoot! Highlights included a man in a kilt joining us on stage to play a percussion instrument called ‘a cardboard box’ and Russian Cossack dancers kicking up their heels!
Our ship’s theme song, ‘Behold James Craig’ has been sung by all the crew in nearly every port of call, and we intend to record that for the next album. 150 Reeelers CDs were sold in Hobart, the remaining 850 have been exported from Tasmania to New South Wales by sailing ship; possibly the only CDs to have ever been transported that way in the history of mankind! (You can order your own historic, signed copy now! See here.)

There’s been hardly a dull moment for The Reeelers since returning to Sydney. Friday 4th of March; performing on board for The Sydney Harbour Awards. Saturday and Sunday, performing at Darling Harbour for the Sydney Harbour Week Celebrations, Monday morning, performing live in the studio for Angela Catterns (ABCRadio 702AM), see photo!
The next opportunity to see the band performing will be at the ‘Discovery After Dark’ event on 2nd April aboard the ship alongside the Australian National Maritime Museum. I would highly recommend the event, whether or not you see us; there are dozens of museums and other venues opening their doors with organized bus connections, all for $30. See www.discoveryafterdark.com.au for more details.
