Non-Australian ships

If there were many locally owned and manned ships passing before the cameras of the interested there were many more that arrived from the rest of the world.  Here we see the varied range of cargo ships that served Europe and the USA along with the  ships of Germany ( some with the Nazi ensign) and  Japan.  Tragically a large number of these ships went to war between 1939 and 1945 and took their crews to the bottom.

Smokey coal burners, motor ships with  finger-like funnels,  tank ships with bulging sides and Nordic ships with ice-breaker bows, all enliven  this  ship-lover’s feast.
