Kookaburra II commenced a major refit in the year 2010, the petrol straight eight cylinder, Chrysler engine was removed and replaced with a 6 cylinder, 135 hp, diesel Perkins-Sabre engine.

The hulls former interior and exterior paint and varnish systems have been removed and replaced. The exterior topsides are to be finished with a colour named Britannia Blue and the interior of the engine bay will be finished in a gloss white.

All deck fittings have been removed for re-chroming and the hull planking seams in the topsides have been splined with Kauri timber.
