Sydney Maritime Museum 50th Anniversary Blog

Members and friends of the Fleet will be interested to learn that the first of a series of BLOGS covering the following three areas of our history and celebrating our 50th Anniversary have gone live this week.

The blogs – Wikipedia defines a “blog” a (truncation of the expression weblog) as a discussion or informational site published on the World Wide Web and consisting of discrete entries (“posts”) typically displayed in reverse chronological order (the most recent post appears first.

Over the course of the next few weeks blogs will be uploaded covering the following areas:

  • Reports and pictures recording Fleet activities in its 50th year

The aim being to illustrate the diversity of Fleet activities and its people, skills, social impact, public interaction thereby creating a Year in the life of the Fleet record.

  • History Highlights

Using the MRRC’s Sydney Maritime Museum – 50 years of history page as the source, we will publish illustrated articles in the blog expanding the story of a selection of major events recorded in the MRRC history.

  • Fleet People

Illustrated personal reminisces of events in the Fleet’s first 50 years. Fleet members are invited to submit their stories and pictures.

Members, and anyone else who has been involved with the Sydney Heritage Fleet is most welcome to send along words and pictures describing memories of the Museum’s first half-century.

We’ll aim to publish in this blog as many as possible.
